Inhalants
Most people think harmful drugs are only found on street corners or in local pharmacies, not in cleaning cabinets or garages. But many youth have used inhalants to “get high.” Inhalants are ordinary household products that are inhaled, or “sniffed” to get high. There are many such products in stores today that youth use as inhalants. Some might believe that these are harmless alternatives to “street drugs” because they are easy to find, cheap, and legally sold. But what most people don’t realize is that these are dangerous chemicals that can cause serious mental and physical effects including brain damage and even death – these are poisons – contaminants, and are not for recreational purposes. While very few people use inhalants today – and it drops of to near zero by age 21, the fact is that many users have no idea how dangerous inhalants can me – and unfortunately many have found that they are even deadlier than street drugs! |

Seconds after inhalation, the user can feel symptoms including:
— Slurred speech — Inability to control movements — Dizziness — Irregular Heart Beat, Heart Attack — Nose bleeds & Loss of Smell — Confusion — Suffocation & Sudden Death — Nausea and Vomiting — Delirium — Violent Behavior |

Continued use can lead to compulsive abuse,
as well as mild withdrawal syndrome. — Weight Loss — Muscle weakness — Disorientation — Inattentiveness — Lack of coordination — Depression — Permanent Brain Damage & Memory Loss. — Liver Damage — Hallucinations — Mood Swings — Exhaustion — Facial Rash and Blisters — As intoxication lasts only a few minutes, users typically seek another high. Thus type of abuse can lead to unconsciousness or even death! |
